Town Clerk & Registrar of Vital Statistics

The Town Clerk’s Office serves Falls Village residents by providing access to essential public records and town services. These include: recording documents; issuing marriage licenses, dog licenses, and fishing and hunting permits; providing certified copies of vital records (birth, death, and marriage); and maintaining the official archive of Town filings. The Town Clerk's Office also supports local elections and works in partnership with the Registrar of Voters.

The Town Clerk’s Office is responsible for preserving Canaan’s historical records. We are pleased to share that we are currently working to preserve historic documents, including older minutes, through a historic preservation grant. These records are being microfilmed to ensure their long-term preservation and continued accessibility for future generations.

Monday–Wednesday: 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Thursday: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Friday: Closed
