About
The Town of Canaan has been awarded the 2025 Neglected Cemetery Account Grant. The funds have been used to restore four field stone gate posts at Sand Hill Cemetery.
The Town of Canaan owns six cemeteries which include:
Haskins (Undermountain) Cemetery- 194 Undermountain Road
Sand Hill Cemetery- 107 Route 63
Lower City Cemetery- 467 Undermountain Road
Barrack (Music) Mountain Cemetery- 213 Music Mountain Road
Root (Steep Road) Cemetery- 24 Steep Road
Holabird, Munson, Kellogg Cemetery- 100 Cobble Road
The Board of Selectmen appoint a Cemetery Sexton who has authority over all town cemeteries. Please contact the sexton for information on purchasing a plot, burials, disinterments or with any other questions.
