Special Meeting of the Board of Selectmen In Lieu of Town Meeting

                        SPECIAL BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING IN LIEU OF

                             TOWN OF CANAAN TOWN MEETING

                              TUESDAY, MARCH 23ND @10 AM

                                TOWN HALL, 108 MAIN STREET

                                FALLS VILLAGE, CONNECTICUT 06031

The Board of Selectmen, under Emergency Declarations by the Governor, will act on the following matters in lieu of a Town Meeting

          

1.    To Receive, review and act on the Annual Auditor’s report for the fiscal year 2019-2020.

2.    To receive, review and/or act on the Annual Report of the Town of Canaan for the fiscal year 2019-2020

3.    Shall the Town of Canaan approve the appropriation of $5,551. from the Reserve Account 1702630541 107/108 Main Street Property Reserve to install alarms and emergency lighting?

4.    Shall the Town of Canaan approve the following:

WHEREAS: The Town of Canaan Department of Public Works (DPW) required a new highway truck to replace one retired from service and further, the DPW manager (Tim Downs) having sought and received approval of a $41,276.73 of a State of CT grant (herein the GRANT) towards the truck purchase…

AND WHEREAS: The necessity of the purchase of the highway truck occurred before the receipt of the grant funds and, further, the truck purchase occurred with the temporary use of funds available in the Treasury of the Town of Canaan to be restored upon the receipt of the grant funds, shall the town Canaan approve enacting a supplement appropriation of $15,000 to title item “Heavy Equipment Reserve’ account 1702301209 and $26,276.73 to title item ‘Truck Reserve’ 51001439.

5.    Shall the Town of Canaan add $4000 to the budget line #1010.104 for the Assistant Town Clerk for fiscal year 2020-2021.

 

 

Procedure for the proceedings:  Roberts Rules of Order will prevail, where not in conflict with Parliamentary Law.  In accordance with the principles of a deliberative meeting under both Roberts Rule and Parliamentary Law, participation will be reserved to those present.
